Announcing Canvas — the Future of NFTs
Building the metaverse is no easy task — although we have to admit, building it on Solana makes things a little easier! Which is why the Plutonians team is thrilled to announce the open-source release of Canvas, our revolutionary new NFT composability protocol, to the Solana community.
Up until NFTs came along, digital assets have evolved towards being customizable and updatable. If you owned a gun in your favourite shooter, you could equip it however you pleased, with scopes, skins, stickers, stocks and more. So why should NFTs be so… lifeless and static? Enter Canvas: the next phase of the NFT ecosystem. Dynamic assets are fundamentally core to the future digital economy, and Plutonians is leading the charge.
In Plutonians, when you dock your Star Hunter at an Interplanetary Union port to upgrade your shielding system or swap out your laser turrets for plasma cannons, Canvas will be running under the hood in real time, dynamically decomposing your NFT and recomposing it with the new upgrades or cosmetic changes! Want a new paint job? Slap it on, and in your Solana wallet your NFT will update automatically!
And just like the endless sea of stars, the use-cases for Canvas are truly infinite. Imagine equipping a new outfit on your virtual avatar; a new hat on your profile picture; a new scope on your rifle. Canvas takes multiple NFT assets, establishes relationships between them, and composes new NFTs on the fly, reflecting your changes!
At Plutonians, we know that digital collaboration can lead to ground-breaking innovation. Without open-source projects, many of the amazing services and technologies we use every day wouldn’t exist. Web3, GameFi and decentralization are innately linked to this philosophy by design.
